Demolish, Build Fresh from announcing the demolition of two buildings, Canterbury is building a new one, as long as the resource consents go through (Gerry Brownlee can sort that out… Read Full Story.

By the way, I have a new contract that you should be aware of. I’m providing behind the scenes support to the Industry Training Federation for a day or two per week until they appoint a new Executive Director. I will not be lobbying for, or speaking on behalf of, the ITF, so don’t read anything into stuff… Read Full Story.

VSM The VSM Bill passed its committee stage Earlier in the day students called for a compromise, but they had already lodged a request for an urgent Waitangi Tribunal claim over the Bill (RNZ, NewstalkZB). Later last night the Bill passed its committee stage and is likely to pass its third and final reading on Sep 28 and… Read Full Story.

VSM Protest John Key opened the refurbished Bill Robertson Library at Otago Uni on Friday (which sounds like a great development). He was met by a protest against VSM, totalling either 150 according to RNZ (I counted that many in the video here at Red Alert), 300 according to the ODT or 600 according to The Standard (apparently… Read Full Story.

Saving Birds Massey has 120 birds shacked up at its vet hospital after the broad-billed prions got exhausted by the recent storms. Massey’s put up a video and they’re quite cute in… Read Full Story.

Great White Sharks Auckland Uni (with NIWA and… Read Full Story.
