NZQA could be usurping property rights or it could have made a typo, but the former option makes a better headline and seems much more likely as well. NZQA released an update on the NZ Qualifications Framework (NZQF) implementation last Tuesday and I’ve provided an excerpt from p.14 below. (NB This probably just refers to [...]
NZQA’s hard line on PTEs is bearing fruit. It started off with 41 PTEs that it had threatened to deregister or place conditions, but the list was down to 7 yesterday, with only a day or two to go before the deadline. I made supportive comments about the approach last week.

6 Apr 2010Tairawhiti and EIT Merger Tairawhiti Polytechnic and Eastern Institute of Technology may merge, largely as a result of financial pressures on the former. This was on the cards a few years ago but extra funds were put into Tairawhiti to help them get back on their feet. Those funds end in December, but there has [...]
Today the media monitoring came up with a Whakatane Beacon story about a new Pouarahi (CE) for Te Korowai Aroha O Aotearoa, a national non-government Maori education and training authority. I’d never heard of them before, so I had a quick look into them and found some interesting things. Here’s a summary from their site.
Te Korowai [...]
