About ED

Education Directions improves tertiary education’s impact on lifting workforce productivity. We do that by linking the key players in tertiary education through better information flows, strategy and policy.

New Zealand’s biggest economic challenge is improving productivity. Tertiary education helps to meet that challenge, but simply educating more people will not boost productivity. Instead, we need to improve feedback loops between employers, students/employees, tertiary education organisations and government so that they make better decisions about what skills are needed now and in the future, and how tertiary education can develop those skills.

ED’s focus is on interpreting the policy, employment and educational environment in which tertiary education operates and helping people use that information to make and implement strategic decisions. We work with tertiary educators, politicians, policy officials, managers and industry leaders who want to improve NZ’s workforce productivity.
