The two ITP groupings (NZITP and the Metros) have both worked largely behind the scenes since they started operating formally about a year ago. The Metros have put out a couple of media releases about international and domestic activities (and launched a business links website), while NZITP has made a few comments about funding and qualifications issues and created a website that has about ten key messages. Mostly the two groups have focused on working through issues behind the scenes with the government.
But now NZITP has announced they’ll be having a conference on 7-8 December. I think it’s a very good idea as conferences are a great chance to share ideas and network with other groups, which is something that the group don’t do so much with their narrow day to day focus. They’ve only put up publicity guff so far, but keep an eye on it if you’re interested in that area. Amy Fitzgerald’s Flow Events is organising it so it will be run perfectly of course!
While I’m on conferences, TERNZ (the annual conference of HERDSA NZ) will take place from 25-26 November 2010 at the University of Otago in Dunedin. Submission of proposals closes on Friday 17 September.
