  1. Team OneBeep has won the Imagine Cup, a Microsoft sponsored technology competition. The University of Auckland team will head off to compete in Poland, promoting their idea of getting educational content to students in developing countries with low Internet access by transmitting content by audio files via radio, which can then be downloaded to the laptop. Great idea.
  2. Sex Addictsare wanted by Massey University, for a study, or so they say.
  3. Hamilton Bellbirds The University of Waikato’s staff are helping to bring bellbirds back to Hamilton after a gap of 120 years. Recently I saw a story about the death of the only tui known to be breeding in Hamilton, and it made me think about what a wonderful difference the Karori sanctuary, now Zealandia,  has made in Wellington, along with Council possum control. I have tui outside my window every day (and a morepork every third night or so).
