April 29th 2010 at 7:45am, By Dave Guerin

It’s a quiet day for tertiary education news.

  1. VSM Debate Submissions started on the Voluntary Student Membership Bill yesterday. NZUSA has put out a release, while David Farrar at Kiwiblog summarises his experience at the select committee. Trevor Mallard (Labour) also wrote of the hearings on his blog.
  2. Ice Cream Some lucky schoolkids will be tasting ice cream for NZ today, as they’ll be judging the Kids’ Choice ice cream awards at Massey University.
  3. Auckland Wins All four finalists in this year’s Walters Prize are from the University of Auckland – the Prize is for a work of contemporary art.
  4. Otago DesignThis story is creeping along, but the University of Otago’s Senate has agreed to recommend closure of the design studies department.
