News 21/4 – Unis Cause Inflation, Still Ask for More

In our ongoing series on delivery in 2009, we’re covering other tertiary education providers at 11am this morning. They’re an interesting bunch with unique approaches. We covered universities on Monday and wananga on Tuesday

  1. Unis Cause Inflation Statistics NZ’s latest inflation figures include university fees as one of the big upward movements (6.1%), caused mainly by new student services fees being charged by some universities (plus UCOL – see earlier post). NZUSA is concerned.
  2. Otago Asks for MoreThe University of Otago is asking for more money. drawing upon comparisons of funding with Australian universities. The ODT also reports on a 20% increase in distance learners for the University.
