News 26/2 – News Loans Bill, Drilling and CPIT CEO

  1. Drilling RigPeter Dunne, Minister of Revenue, has welcomed the passing of the Student Loan Scheme (Exemptions and Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment Bill yesterday
  2. Tai Poutini Polytechnic has launched a Certificate in Drilling, reinforcing their status as the Big Boys Toys polytechnic (they also teach about explosives and diggers).
  3. Feel like a new job? CPIT’s Chief Executive role is up for grabs, after Neil Barns’ resignation.
  4. New Zealand Management Academies is offering new business courses from EdExcel, a major UK education company owned by Pearson. It’s an interesting example of cross-border educational collaboration. HT ITI Newsletter
  5. The Auditor-General has released a report on the results of 2008 audits. Nothing too exciting but some useful technical points if you’re that way inclined (NB some interesting notes on ITP accounts were released last year).
  6. MOE has new figures up on educational attainment in the NZ population -  not essential reading.
