New 19 Feb – ATTTO, ACE Cuts and Disney

February 19th 2010 at 8:21am, By Dave Guerin

  1. You may have heard that SAFE Air in Blenheim (and Air NZ subsidiary) is laying off 100 staff because of problems with an Air Force contract. The Aviation Tourism and Travel Training Organisation is getting very involved in helping find opportunities for the workers involved in industry training - good on them.
  2. The Tertiary Education Union is calling for facilitation under the Employment Relations Act over their year long negotiations with six ITPs (our short post yesterday here).
  3. Stephen Joyce is behind the ACE cuts, just as Anne Tolley was.
  4. Two Lincoln University commerce graduates are getting an opportunity to work at Disney World for a year.

This news post is a regular morning post, usually between 8-9am. Comments are welcomed on the topics raised above or any other tertiary education topic of the day.
