Strikes at ITPs?

February 18th 2010 at 2:53pm, By Dave Guerin

The TEU made a major announcement today, announcing that they want facilitation under the Employment Relations Act for their negotiations with six ITPs over the only Multi-Employer Collective Agreemnt for tertiary education institutions. Negotiations have been going on for a year and gaps between the parties have narrowed considerably, but there are obviously sticking points.

I had been planning a post on this issue already, but I’m currently seeking more information from the parties involved. The issue is quite complicated so I won’t dive straight into it, but it could lead to strikes quite quickly, but also to some quite major changes in employment arrangements.
